Three Things That Can Ruin Your Chance to Become a Licensed Contractor

There’s just too much at stake – in terms of making money, setting your own schedule, and being in control of your own future – to put off that important step in your career.
But, while becoming a licensed contractor in California is easier than most of our new students think, there are a few risks. In fact, here are three things that can ruin your chance to earn your certification:
- Choosing a school that’s too far away.
We know it can be tempting to decide to go with a lesser-known school, or one that’s farther away, because you want to save a little bit of money on tuition. But, while that might seem like a good idea in the short term, the reality is that choosing a contractors licensing school that’s in an inconvenient location means it’s going to be harder to fit into your daily schedule. That could lead to missed classes and, ultimately, failing your contractors exam.
- Not having the tools or connections to transition into self-employment.
Some students get discouraged because they aren’t sure what they need to do after passing their exam to get started as a self-employed contractor. - Failing to get started in the first place.
