Mission Statements are compressed expressions of the beliefs and values that make your contracting business a worthwhile investment to the people who purchase your expertise and services. This should include 5 essential pieces of information:
- 1. What is your service
- 2. How is it done
- 3. Why do you it
- 4. Who are you trying to serve
- 5. How do you succeed at offering this service
In addition to communicating to consumers and competitors what your company is all about, it send a message internally. “These are our standards and we do not stray from them”. A mission statement can be a guide in moving forward with difficult decisions, with hiring, or even something as simple as what sort of dress code you enforce among employees.
Once you have this, it can be a useful piece of information to add to business cards, company vehicles, uniforms, or to internal documents. What do you stand for?
